THE BRAVEST

I worked on Rescue 2 for most of my career. We were responsible for rescue in fires, but Squaddies, as we were called, were also tasked with any technical rescue that came along. This might mean SCUBA diving for bodies in the bay, suiting up for Hazardous Material calls, rapelling off bridges and cliffs to reach a stranded tourist, and swimming through cold and treacherous surf to a drowning victim. On this day, we were sent to a train accident, and a documentary film crew came along.
